Legalization of casino in Thailand in 2024
The State Council of Thailand has published draft rules allowing for a 30-year license to open a casino.
Bangkok claims that the legalization of casinos will increase the country’s attractiveness as a tourist center. The plans include attracting foreign investment and collecting more taxes. A recent study showed that Thailand could increase tourism revenues by $12 billion by legalizing casinos by placing them in large entertainment complexes.
Gambling has been prohibited in Thailand since 1935, with the exception of the national lottery and horse racing. Starting in 2024, casinos will be located in large entertainment complexes, hotels, convention centers and amusement parks.
