Not long ago, everyone was convinced that it was impossible to adjust the payout of slots at licensed online casinos. Streamers and large webmasters in chat rooms have repeatedly smirked at statements about changing RTP. It was thought that a customizable slot payout (RTP) is only possible in scripted casinos. Customisable RTP first became known in 2020. In the network leaked customizable payout provider Play’n GO.
To check the RTP in Play’n GO, you need to open the code page of the slot through your Google Chrome browser and go to the correct sections of the code. But be careful! You have to check the downloaded slot for real money, not in demo mode.
To the surprise of the players the difference was enormous, the payout in different casinos ranged from 84% to 96%. In percentage terms, the difference of 12% may seem small. In fact, with a minimum value of 84% the payout would be 3 times less than with 96%.
The noise increased at an enormous rate. Naturally the mud was poured over Play’n GO in various chat rooms, websites and Youtube. Massive discussions about possible tweaks went out to all the ISPs.
A few days later Play’n GO announced they were removing the RTP settings. All casinos set the RTP at 96%. You bet, the provider got excited that their games would stop being played. But the “music” didn’t play for long, after a few months RTP was different again in different casinos. If I am not mistaken, 84% is nowhere to be found, but the numbers 88%-92% are seen quite often. This is still very low. For example, RTP in the provider Netent comes to 97.5%! But in Netent have already announced the possibility of choosing RTP. Starting from November 2021 Netent will give an opportunity to choose RTP. It seems to me by such actions providers themselves “sink”. Categorically not advised to play slots from the provider Play’n GO.

Tommy Harrison — founder and chief editor of Gambler.casino. With more than 14 years in the iGaming industry, I specialize in evaluating online casinos, analyzing bonus terms, reviewing slots (slot machines), and understanding affiliate programs.
I’ve personally tested over 200 online casinos using real money deposits from my own pocket. Back when online gambling was just starting to gain traction, I began playing in unlicensed script-based casinos — the early, unregulated days of the industry. Over those 14 years, I’ve played more than 5,500 different slot titles from 85 different software providers. I was among the first to publicly expose that Red Tiger slots have predetermined bonus outcomes before the feature even triggers. I also gathered substantial evidence of rigged live games from Evolution Gaming and published it in detailed educational articles on Gambler.casino — helping thousands of players avoid costly mistakes.
My favorite topics remain slots and bonuses.
Today I lead a team of specialists in bonuses, casino reviews, slots, and gambling education — while still actively writing articles myself to keep sharing first-hand insights and updates. My older archived articles remain an important part of the site, reflecting years of hands-on experience. My goal has never changed: to provide players around the world with honest, up-to-date, and truly trustworthy content they can rely on.
